FAIRBANKS — Jenni Warren learned how to build websites playing around on MySpace.

“I just loved that I could figure out the language and make my MySpace page look completely different than anybody else,” she said.

She went professional a few years later, and now Warren is making her living designing websites. The 41-year-old owns Warweb Designs. She can build a pretty website, create logos, do website maintenance and help companies tap into e-commerce. Consultations are free.

“You should ask yourself,” Warren said, “‘Is what I have working for my business? Is it growing my business?’”

She moved to Fairbanks in 2009 after deciding she no longer wanted to occupy a cubicle in corporate America. She was living in Texas.

She worked for the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra, created the organization’s website, and word of mouth led to more website gigs, such as for Opera Fairbanks.
